Summertime Madness post show analysis
A collaboration with Pro Wresting Malta
Every few months, fans are treated to a local sports entertainment spectacle as Pro Wrestling Malta (PWM) hosts one of their shows. At each show, fans are promised great matches that combine local talent as well as wrestlers from nations all over the globe! On June 6th, 2026, it was once again time as Summertime Madness kicked off at the Montekristo Estates and this show was no different to the rest! From some crucial storylines being developed to entertaining vignettes to the wrestling itself, which included, amongst other things, a man backflipping from the top rope, Summertime Madness was not a disappointment! But what exactly went down at the event? And what can we expect next? This article, done in collaboration with PWM themselves, will give you all the info you need ahead of their next show in October!
The matches themselves
Before discussing the aftermath, let’s discuss what happened in the matches themselves. As part of this section, it’s worth mentioning that wrestler Kyle Brooks was involved in a one on one exhibition match which he won; a second exhibition match took place between two of Pro Wrestling Malta’s own trainees, with the winner having quite the opportunity as part of:
Sorani vs The Italian dream
The show kicked us off with “The Kurdish eagle” Sorani cutting a short promo ahead of his match against luchador The Italian Dream! Sorani mentioned his career and trash talked Malta and the Maltese before the trainee that won the second exhibition match arrived to shut Sorani up.
His efforts were unsuccessful, though the Kurdish eagle couldn’t celebrate for too long, as out came the Italian Dream to have his try at Sorani. This time Sorani was defeated and ended up leaving the ring showered by boos from the Maltese crowd.
The Freak Show (W) vs The Lancadores
One of the most iconic acts in Maltese professional wrestling, The Freakshow, took on British tag team the Lancadores. As every match with the Freakshow tends to go, notable moments took place in this match, including a mannequin head that the Freakshow’s leader Neil Hendrix brings with him to the ring being tossed in the air multiple times as the Lancadores attempted to destroy it, which only angered the Freakshow further. The match went back and forth, with other notable moments including the confrontation between Neil Hendrix and the Lancadores’ manager Tori Fox before Sinister Roddy unleashed the mist on one of the Lancadores to help PWM’s own secure the win!
Tom La Ruffa (W) vs El Grande Maltese
Arguably the most sensational addition to the PWM roster yet, El Grande Maltese got the opportunity to face French wrestler Tom La Ruffa! Maltese gave it his all and gave La Ruffa a (maybe unexpectedly) tricky obstacle.
However, unfortunately for Malta’s own mystery masked man, La Ruffa proved too hard a task to overcome, as the Frenchman came out on top, to the dismay of the crowd.
Team Pro Wrestling Malta vs Team British Empire Wrestling
History was made for women’s wrestling in Malta that night as Amber and Lorelai stepped up to represent PWM against Emily Essex and Amara Jayde from the British wrestling organisation British Empire Wrestling (BEW). Both teams were looking to make their organisations proud, as the match included moments such as hot tags and both teams interacting with the audience, who were on Team Malta!
The audience would be cheering at the end as Amber and Lorelai secured the victory, becoming the first ever Maltese women’s tag team and the first Maltese women’s tag team to secure a victory. After this outcome, it looks like the future is bright for Maltese women’s wrestling, and so the question arises, what’s next?
TJ Rex defends his PWM championship against Adam Envy and Gianni Valletta in a triple threat.
This was the main event and probably the match of the night in terms of pure wrestling. TJ Rex headed into the event as the defending PWM champion; however, he faced some tough opposition as he went up against Gianni Valletta, who is known to have wrestled in the indies across the globe, including in Britain and Japan, and Adam Envy, a former champ who the audience just loves to hate!
From TJ doing a backflip from the top rope, to Gianni tossing Envy into some unfortunate fans watching at the ringside seats, to Envy controversially pushing Gianni out of the ring just as he looked to pin TJ to take the win for himself and walk out as a now two time PWM champion. In an interview, Envy said he worked “smarter, not harder”, as it was decided by the general manager of PWM that the two will be facing off one on one next October for Envy’s championship.
2nd to none (Kyle Brooks and Jack Quinn) vs Hamez and a mystery partner for the PWM tag team championships.
I’m covering this last not because it was the main event; no, this is due to the fact that this match has a detailed storyline behind it, which I will break down in some detail.
The OG second to none
Second to none was originally the duo of Hamez and Kyle Brooks. The team was beloved by the fans, as they would receive a massive pop every time and had reigns as the PWM tag team champions in their repertoire.
Hamez’s injury and Quinn’s introduction
The OG second to none were forced to vacate the PWM tag team championships due to an injury to Hamez, and it was around this time that another PWM roster member, Jack Quinn (also beloved by the audience), was introduced to the picture, and following a short stint for Kyle Brooks as the PWM champion, the team of Kyle and Quinn would (with Hamez cheering them on from the side) win the PWM tag team championships in a tag team gauntlet match as 2nd to none officially transformed from a team of 2 to a faction of 3.
The two (Kyle and Quinn) would continue to reign as PWM tag team champs until something happened at the March 7th, 2026 show, Dawn of Glory. This show was the one where Hamez was scheduled to return in the ring, and it also included a rumble match where the winner would get to challenge for the PWM championship.
The Rumble controversy – the death of the faction.
The rumble included all of Malta’s top stars as well as international wrestlers, with the final two coming down to Hamez and Adam Envy. The latter was gunning for an opportunity to win back the PWM championship, while at the moment fans were probably thinking that Hamez would go on a solo run of his own, leading to both the solo and tag titles potentially being in the hands of second to none if he won the rumble.
Hamez would go on to win the rumble, as while he was hanging onto the ropes, he dodged a charging Envy, sending the latter over the top rope and thus crowning Hamez the winner. However, the plot twist came after he secured the win, as this is where Hamez would announce he wasn’t going for the PWM championship; instead, he would aim for the tag belts held by Quinn and Kyle.
Hamez seemingly didn’t want to harm the bond that the 3 had formed as a faction but simply aimed to have a fair and friendly match to try to gain back the titles that he technically never lost. Just when he tried to shake the hands of the visibly annoyed Quinn, the latter kicked Hamez, to the shock of the audience, marking the faction’s official end, with Kyle reluctantly siding with Quinn, setting up Quinn and Kyle as the new second to none against Hamez and a mystery partner at Summertime Madness.
The events of June 6th 2026
Excitement built as fans were awaiting to see who Hamez’s partner would end up being, with Hamez at one point leading up to the show reaching out to Gianni Valletta (who rejected on the basis that Hamez eliminated him from the rumble) in hopes of finding a partner.
Vignettes showcasing both sides of the argument played before Kyle and Quinn made their entrance, with Quinn debuting a new look that showed he meant business and Kyle seeming hesitant. Hamez then entered the ring, and the fans couldn’t wait anymore as the announcer said Hamez….. Hadn’t found… a partner. Yes, that’s right, Hamez was on his own, against both Quinn and Kyle. The match played out as one would expect in this scenario; Hamez would fight back and even gain momentum on occasion; however, the numbers game would constantly get to him.
Eventually, one could easily notice a shaky “new” second to none, as Kyle and Quinn had moments of tension between them. It is here where Kyle could no longer go with the flow; Quinn wanted simply to inflict as much hurt on Hamez as possible, while Kyle wanted the match to continue on, and as Quinn encouraged Kyle to attack his former friend, who was already looking down and out, Kyle chose and attacked Quinn instead, leaving Hamez with an easy pin on Quinn to win himself the tag team belts; however, he wasn’t going to be a tag champ by himself, as after Kyle attempted to congratulate him and leave, Hamez instead offered him the 2nd tag title belt. Kyle accepted the offer, much to Quinn’s displeasure, and the match ended with the OG 2nd to None reuniting.
However, more drama ensued after Quinn walked out in disappointment, as the lights would go out and we would witness the Freakshow attacking the reunited OG 2nd to None, making a statement and making their intentions of challenging for the tag team championships clear!
Summertime Madness’ aftermath: what can we take from it?
Will “the Quinn factor” play a role as the OG 2nd to None defends their championship?
Hamez and Kyle are back together, but they didn’t have time to celebrate. The Freakshow are now on the hunt for their tag team championship, which forces them to focus on that threat. However, we need not forget that Quinn will still be looking for payback after what happened, which leaves the OG 2nd to none extra vulnerable, as they are probably heading into a title defence against a team that uses things like mist as tactics while having someone else looking to cause them harm.
When asked in an interview if he had a target on his back, Quinn quickly denied the fact. Meanwhile, in an interview of his own, Kyle Brooks said, “We’re going to make an even bigger statement (than the Freakshow), as 2nd to none always does.”
Women’s wrestling in Malta: what can we expect?
As history was just made by Amber and Lorelai, Maltese women’s wrestling will perhaps start to have a revolution of its own, but what can we expect for the future? Well, Lorelai said in an interview that the fans should “look out for more; watch out for us; we’re here to dominate”, which sets the narrative clear: Lorelai and Amber are not just THE ones to beat for any other Maltese hopefuls, but they are also a threat to all of women’s pro wrestling!
El Grande Maltese, is a brighter future ahead?
Malta’s mystery masked man didn’t have the best showing at Summertime Madness; however, El Grande Maltese is not showing a bit of hesitation when it comes to his ambitions, as, when asked if he will ever be lifting the PWM championship, he said, “It’s not a question of if and will, it’s a question of when. “ So while Envy and Valletta are currently feuding for that championship, once the dust settles, will El Grande Maltese be the next in line?
Overall, Summertime Madness was an action packed show, as PWM’s events always are! This past event has left us with many memorable moments, with a lot to be excited about for the upcoming show on October 24th, 2026, as fans await the tickets to drop on eventworks.mt. In the meantime, however, there are still opportunities to hear more from the wrestlers, either through my post show interviews or through Pro Wrestling Malta’s social media!

Talented young man, keep it up.
